Mapping the seabed of Cyprus

This animation was created as part of the research communication campaign connected to the Marine Spatial Planning research project Thal-Hor.

The research project aims to map out the seabed around Greece and Cyprus. Better knowledge of the seabed is not only useful to satisfy our curiosity but to also better organize the usage of our sea areas.

This animation showcases the technologies and the approach that was used in order to map the seabed of the coastal areas around Cyprus. Additionally the animation highlights how the gathering of this information plays a crucial role in the efficient management of various activities such as sea navigation, fishing and nature preservation as well as the development related to beach areas and other tourism related facilities.
